Brown & Randolph Honored By Big Brothers Big Sisters
Jan. 28, 2009
WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross senior strong safety Daryl Brown (Stone Mountain, Ga.) and senior quarterback Dominic Randolph (Amelia, Ohio) received the Dr. H. Martin Deranian Award from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Massachusetts / Metrowest on Thursday, January 22.
The Deranian Award is presented annually to a volunteer Big Brother or Big Sister who has demonstrated outstanding loyalty and dedication to their young mentee as well as leadership and service to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Massachusetts / Metrowest. First presented in 1999, the Deranian Award seeks to honor those volunteers who both impacted directly the lives of their Little Brother or Little Sister while also donating their time and efforts with service to the agency's goals of matching more deserving children.
Both Brown and Randolph spent a great deal of time volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters, and were outstanding role models for the other Big Brothers and for their Little Brothers. Some of their activities included organizing the entire Holy Cross football team's involvement with Big Brothers Big Sisters, set up car pools for their teammates to visit their Little Brothers, worked at the organization's summer car wash, and spoke at Big Brothers Big Sisters orientation and recruitment events.
