WORCESTER, Mass. - Nineteen members of the Holy Cross football team have been selected to the 2008 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, as announced by the league office. Leading the Crusaders were senior offensive lineman Luke Botting (Hamilton, Ohio), senior tight end Ryan McGuire (Woburn, Mass.) and senior offensive lineman Chris Smith (Buffalo, N.Y.), who were all named to the Academic Honor Roll for the third time during their collegiate careers.
Six other Crusaders are making their second career appearance on the Academic Honor Roll, in senior placekicker Matt Partain (Libertyville, Ill.), junior linebacker Andrew Cialino (Medford, N.J.), junior quarterback Joe Kosich (Southampton, Pa.), junior defensive lineman Nicholas MacDonald (Lackawanna, N.Y.), sophomore wide receiver Luke Chmielinski (Walpole, Mass.) and sophomore offensive lineman Mike McCabe (Watertown, Conn.).
Holy Cross players named to the team for the first time were senior wide receiver Danny Bluth (Seal Beach, Calif.), junior defensive back Dakota Allosso (Virginia Beach, Va.), junior defensive lineman Alex Carson (Atlanta, Ga.), junior wide receiver Mike Frawley (Glen Mills, Pa.), junior quarterback Taylor Glor (Wellesley, Mass.), junior linebacker Sean Lamkin (Jenks, Okla.), junior defensive back Quentin Liggins (Minneapolis, Minn.), sophomore wide receiver Rob Koster (Bellerose, N.Y.), freshman defensive back Cav Koch (Austin, Texas) and sophomore defensive lineman Marcus Morgan (Aurora, Colo.).
A total of 131 student-athletes from football teams around the league earned spots on this year's Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a grade point average of 3.20 or better during the fall semester, and be a starter or key reserve on his team.
The Crusaders, who went 7-4 overall and 5-1 in the Patriot League last year, are scheduled to open spring practice on Thursday, March 19.
