Holy Cross Football Announces 2009 Incoming Class

March 12, 2009

WORCESTER, Mass. -- Holy Cross head football coach Tom Gilmore has announced the 2009 incoming class for the Crusaders. Twenty-eight student-athletes will join the Holy Cross program for the 2009-2010 academic year.

"We are very excited about this incoming class," said Gilmore. "We believe that we were able to bring in great quality at most positions, and add the depth we needed to replace the numbers in our graduating class. Overall this is a balanced class, but we were able to bring in a large group of linebackers and receivers, while filling out our needs at other positions. We also have the highest number of fullbacks and tight ends in this class since I have been here. This will help us add more variety to our already potent offense."

The 28 players making up this year's class include 17 on offense and 11 on defense. Holy Cross has added six running backs, four wide receivers, four linemen, two tight ends and one quarterback on the offensive side of the ball, while bringing in four backs, four linebackers and three linemen for the defense.

Holy Cross returns 15 of 22 starters from its 2008 squad which finished with an overall record of 7-4 and a 5-1 mark in the Patriot League. The Crusaders are scheduled to play their annual spring game on Saturday, April 18, at 11:30 a.m.
