Holy Cross Football Team Plays 2006 Spring Game

WORCESTER, Mass. - Sophomore quarterback Dominic Randolph (Amelia, Ohio) completed 10 of 16 passes for 110 yards and one touchdown, while sophomore wide receiver Brett McDermott (Mansfield, Mass.) caught five passes for 70 yards and two touchdowns as the Holy Cross football team played its annual spring game at Fitton Field on Saturday morning. The biggest play of the day was Randolph's 50 yard touchdown pass to McDermott. The offense was able to total 312 yards on 66 plays from scrimmage, good for an average of 4.7 yards per play. The defense forced three turnovers on the day, recording three interceptions.
Senior quarterback Mike Finucane (Branford, Conn.) completed 7 of 14 passes for 69 yards, including a four-yard touchdown strike to McDermott. In addition, junior quarterback Brian McSharry (Abington, Mass.) completed 6 of 15 passes for 64 yards, while throwing three interceptions.
The only other touchdown of the game came on a 30-yard run by sophomore tailback Terrance Gass (Sicklerville, N.J.). Sophomore running back Mike Kielt (Southbury, Conn.) rushed for 27 yards on five carries, while sophomore wide receiver Danny Bluth (Seal Beach, Calif.) caught three pass for 57 yards, including a 43 yard catch from a pass by McSharry.
On the defensive side of the ball, sophomore linebacker Ryan Stewart (Wayland, Mass.) had a total of five tackles on the day. The three interceptions were recorded by senior defensive back Casey Gough (Hinsdale, Ill.), and sophomore defensive backs Ty Shaw (Aurora, Colo.) and Mike Holloway (Alexandria, Va.).
The Crusaders have now concluded spring practice, and are scheduled to open the 2006 season when they travel to Washington, D.C., to face Georgetown in Patriot League action on September 2.
