WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross senior wide receiver Brett McDermott (Mansfield, Mass.) has been named the Patriot League Special Teams Player of the Week, for his performance in Saturday's game against UMass. He totaled 171 all-purpose yards against the Minutemen, as the Crusaders suffered a last-second 45-42 loss. Earlier in the second quarter, he had returned a kickoff 55 yards to set up another Crusader touchdown. In addition to his two kickoff returns, McDermott also had one rush for 20 yards and one reception for eight yards against the Minutemen.
Over the course of his Holy Cross career, McDermott has now returned 14 kickoffs for 441 yards and one touchdown, good for an average of 31.5 yards per return.
Holy Cross (0-1) returns to action on Friday, Sept. 19, when it travels to Harvard for a 7:00 p.m. game.
