WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross junior cornerback Kyle Mushaweh (Woodbury, Conn.) has been named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in Saturday's 59-10 victory at Lehigh. Mushaweh led a defense which forced six turnovers and held the Mountain Hawks to just 314 total yards, while earning the first Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week honor of his career.
In the Lehigh game, Mushaweh recorded four total tackles, one tackle for loss and the first two interceptions of his collegiate career. His first interception came at the 5:44-mark of the third quarter, halting a Mountain Hawk drive at the Holy Cross 18-yard line with the Crusaders up 31-10. Just over two minutes later, Mushaweh picked off another pass and returned its 46 yards for a touchdown to give Holy Cross an insurmountable 45-10 lead. On the season, Mushaweh has now totaled 34 tackles, two interceptions, two tackles for loss and four pass breakups. Over the course of his career as a Crusader, he has recorded 94 tackles and 10 pass breakups
Holy Cross (5-2 overall, 2-0 Patriot League) returns to action this Saturday, Oct. 27, when it travels to Bucknell (2-5 overall, 0-2 Patriot League) for a 1:00 p.m. game.
