Dominic Randolph Places 12th In Voting For Walter Payton Award

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Holy Cross junior quarterback Dominic Randolph (Amelia, Ohio) placed 12th in the voting for the 2007 Walter Payton Award, presented annually by the Sports Network to the top player in the Division I football championship subdivision. The Payton Award will be presented at the annual Sports Network awards dinner on Thursday, Dec. 13, in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Voting, which is based on regular season performance only, was conducted among media members and media relations professionals covering the football championship subdivision. The top three players in the voting, Georgia Southern quarterback Jayson Foster, San Diego quarterback Josh Johnson and Northern Iowa quarterback Eric Sanders, will be in attendance at the awards ceremony.

The Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year and a first team all-conference selection, Randolph completed 297 of 482 passes this season for 3,604 yards and 30 touchdowns with just eight interceptions. He set Holy Cross single season records for total offense (3,741 yards), completions and passing attempts, while placing second on the single season lists for touchdown passes and passing yards. Randolph led the Patriot League in total offense, passing yards and pass efficiency (141.6 rating), while ranking second in the nation in total offense, passing yards and completions.

Over the course of his career as a Crusader, Randolph has now completed 481 of 781 passes for 5,841 yards and 49 touchdowns. He currently ranks fourth all-time at Holy Cross in touchdown passes and passing yards, while standing fifth in total offense, completions and pass attempts.

Holy Cross concluded the 2007 season with an overall record of 7-4, and placed second in the Patriot League with a 4-2 mark in conference games.
