Holy Cross Men's Golf Takes Second At Nichols Invitational
WORCESTER,
Mass. - Sophomore Andrew Wong (Wailuku,
Hawaii) finished fourth and junior John Weber
(Branford, Conn.) tied for sixth to lead the Holy Cross
men's golf team to second place at the Nichols Invitational Sunday
at the Green Hill Golf Course in Worcester, Mass. Wong shot a
four-over-par 76 and Weber carded a 78.
Freshman Robert Machado (Miami, Fla.) made his
collegiate debut for Holy Cross, shooting an eight-over-par 80 on
the day and finishing tied for ninth. Junior James Burokas
(Brant Rock, Mass.) tied for 36th with an 88. Junior
Meghan Doherty (Westerly, R.I.) of the Holy Cross
women's golf team also participated, finishing tied for 53rd with a
93.
The Crusaders finished just one shot out of first place.
UMass-Dartmouth won the team competition with a 319. Holy Cross
combined for a 320, followed by Endicott and Nichols, who tied for
third with a 326. Brandeis and Johnson and Wales tied for fifth
with a 329. Bob Bruso of Worcester State finished first
individually, shooting a 69. He was the only participant to finish
under par.
The weekend continues for Holy Cross men's golf. Members of the
team are participating in the Southern New Hampshire Invitational
at the Passaconway Country Club in Litchfield, N.H. The first round
was finished Sunday with round two on Monday, Oct. 12. The action
will tee off at 9:00 a.m.
