WETHERSFIELD, Conn. – Junior Tim DiStefano (Albany, N.Y.) and senior Steve Zychowski (Mendham, N.J.) both finished in a tie for 12th place at seven-over par with a two-round total of 149 strokes, as the Holy Cross men's golf team placed ninth at the Blue Devil Invitational, held at the Wethersfield Country Club. The Crusaders finished with a 43-over par total of 611 strokes as a team, while Sacred Heart won the team title with 591 strokes (23-over par). Monte Mullen of Central Connecticut captured the individual crown with a total of 141 strokes (one-under par).
Following DiStefano and Zychowski, senior Roberto Machado (Miami, Fla.) was the next best finisher for Holy Cross, placing 40th with 155 total strokes. Junior Peter Cahill (Wellesley, Mass.) followed in 45th place with 158 strokes, and senior Michael McCarthy (Tolland, Conn.) came in 50th with 160 strokes.
The Crusaders return to action on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 24 and 25, when they take part in the Hartford Invitational at the Bulls Bridge Country Club in South Kent, Conn.
