NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Steve Zychowski (Mendham, N.J.) finished tied for 27th place (+4) with a two round total of 144 strokes as the Holy Cross men's golf team placed 15th at the MacDonald Cup, held at the Course at Yale this past weekend. The Crusaders finished with a total of 595 strokes (+35) as a team, while Yale defended its title with 564 strokes (+4). Niall Platt of Notre Dame captured medalist with a total two-day score of minus-two (138).
Other Crusader scores included junior Peter Cahill (Wellesley, Mass.) who finished in 34th place with a score of 147 (+7) and senior Roberto Machado (Miami, Fla.) who shot a plus-11 (151), good for 58th. Fourth-year Michael McCarthy (Tolland, Conn.) came in 71st place with a score of 156 strokes (+16). Rounding out Holy Cross, junior Tim DiStefano (Albany, N.Y.) placed in 73rd (+19, 159).
The Crusaders return to action in two weeks when they will play in the Northeast Invitational at the Shelter Harbor Golf Club in Charlestown, R.I. on October 13th and 14th.
