Men's Golf Finishes Second At Intercollegiate Golf Classic

PUTNAM, Conn. – Holy Cross senior Steve Zychowski (Mendham, N.J.) captured first place to help the Crusaders finish in second as a team at the Intercollegiate Golf Classic held at the Par-71 Connecticut National Golf Club on October 20-21. Zychowski shot a total score of 139, which was three strokes under par, while the Crusaders had 593 strokes (+25).  

Adelphi claimed the tournament crown with a total score of 584. Rounding out the top five were St. Thomas Aquinas (594), Le Moyne (596), and Bryant (599).

Zychowski matched his career low with a 69 (-2) in the first round, while he shot a 70 in the second round. Junior Peter Cahill (Wellesley, Mass.) carded his collegiate-best on the second day with an even-par 71, as he shot a two-day score of 147 (+5), tying him for seventh. Senior Roberto Machado (Miami, Fla.) tied for 27th with a scorecard of 154 (+12).

Sophomore John Reali (Searingtown, N.Y.) finished tied for 33rd with a 156 (+14) while junior Tim DiStefano (Albany, N.Y.) carded a 159 (+17), which placed him in a tie for 46th. 

The Crusaders will conclude their fall slate on October 28 and 29, as they will compete in the NEIGA Championships held at the Captains Golf Course in Brewster, Mass.
