Men's Hockey Announces 2009-2010 Schedule
WORCESTER,
Mass. - Holy Cross head men's hockey
coach Paul Pearl and athletic director Richard M. Regan, Jr., have
announced the Crusaders' schedule for the 2009-2010 season. There
will be a total of 17 home games at the Hart Center for Holy Cross
this season, beginning with an exhibition contest against the Royal
Military College on Oct. 4. The Crusaders will start the regular
season with two games versus Hockey East teams on the road as they
will play at Providence (Oct. 10) and at Merrimack (Oct. 16). Holy
Cross' home-opener will be with AIC (Oct. 31).
Along with Providence and Merrimack, the Crusaders will play four
more non-conference games. Holy Cross will play home games versus
Yale (Nov. 28) and Quinnipiac (Dec. 10), while it will also compete
at Dartmouth's Ledyard National Bank Tournament (Jan. 2-3) versus
UMass Lowell and then either Dartmouth or
Northeastern.
With 10 teams in Atlantic Hockey, the Crusaders will play an unbalanced conference schedule. Holy Cross will have four meetings with AIC, Air Force, Bentley, RIT and Sacred Heart, and two games versus Army, Canisius, Connecticut and Mercyhurst.
The 2010 Atlantic Hockey Tournament will once again be a four-round format that will begin on March 6 with a single-game elimination round as the seventh and eighth place teams host the 10th and ninth place teams respectively. Then on March 12-14 the best two-out-of-three quarterfinals series will take place. The semifinals and finals will be played at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, N.Y., on March 19 and March 20.
