WORCESTER, Mass. - Freshman forward Shayne Stockton (Rochester, N.Y.) has been named the AT&T Crusader of the Week, for competition from October 11-17. Stockton led the Holy Cross men's ice hockey team to wins over American International and Army last weekend.
During Friday's 3-2 victory at American International, Stockton scored the game-winning goal 58 seconds into the third period to break a 2-2 tie. He then recorded a goal and an assist in Sunday's 5-4 overtime win at Army. With Holy Cross trailing 4-2 in the second period, Stockton assisted on a goal by senior forward Everett Sheen (Lethbridge, Alberta) to trim the margin to one goal. He then found the net at the 7:38-mark of the third period to tie the score at 4-4 and force overtime.
On the season, Stockton now ranks second on the team in scoring with three goals and two assists for five points.
Holy Cross (2-2-0 overall, 2-0-0 Atlantic Hockey) returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 23, when it travels to Quinnipiac for a 4:00 p.m. game.
