WORCESTER, Mass. - Senior goaltender Adam Roy (Feeding Hills, Mass.) has been named the AT&T Crusader of the Week, for competition from January 3-9. Roy helped the Holy Cross men's ice hockey team to a split of its two-game series with Niagara last weekend.
During Friday night's 5-2 loss to the Purple Eagles, Roy was in net for the final 27:41 of action during the second and third periods, and allowed no goals while making seven saves. He then earned his first win of the season in the Crusaders' 5-1 victory over Niagara on Saturday, making a career-high 47 saves while allowing just one goal. Over the course of the two games, Roy made 54 saves with a .982 save percentage and an 0.68 goals against average.
On the season, Roy now stands 1-3-0 with 125 saves and a 3.69 goals against average. Over the course of his Holy Cross career, he has a 15-31-8 record with 1,502 saves and a 3.19 goals against average. Roy's 1,502 career saves are second all-time on the Holy Cross Division I saves list, while his 15 victories are seventh.
The Crusaders return to action this Friday, Jan. 14, when they travel to Mercyhurst for a 7:00 p.m. game.
