Rob Linsmayer Makes Pro Debut With The ECHL’s Idaho Steelheads

BOISE, Idaho Holy Cross senior forward Rob Linsmayer (Winnetka, Ill.) has signed with the ECHL's Idaho Steelheads. The Steelheads are the affiliate of the NHL's Dallas Stars along with the AHL's Texas Stars. Linsmayer made his professional debut with the team on March 23 in the team's 5-0 loss versus the Ontario Reign. This was the final game in a three-game series. On the ice Linsmayer faced former teammates Everett Sheen, Brodie Sheahan and Matt Clune, all of whom currently play for the Ontario Reign. The Steelheads have three regular season games left on their schedule.

Linsmayer played in 150 career games at Holy Cross with 31 goals and 69 assists, leading the class with a total of 100 points. As a senior assistant captain, the forward played in 36 games for the Crusaders, scoring 27 points on seven goals and 20 assists. He is the all-time leader for games played in school history, while he is tied for eighth in career assists in D1 program history with 69. His 100 points move him to 10th in D1 history for career points tallied. As a freshman he won the team's Seventh Player Award, while as a sophomore he was a semifinalist for the Walter Brown Award and earned the Atlantic Hockey Best Defensive Forward Award. He was a member of the Holy Cross Leadership Academy and was named to the 2011-2012 Atlantic Hockey All-Academic team. This past summer Linsmayer also participated in the 2012 San Jose Sharks NHL development camp.
