Men's Hockey Announces 2013-2014 Schedule

WORCESTER, Mass.­ – Holy Cross head men's hockey coach Paul Pearl has announced the Crusaders' schedule for the 2013-2014 season. There will be a total of 16 home games at the Hart Center for Holy Cross this season, beginning with an exhibition contest against Simon Fraser on Oct. 5. The Crusaders begin the regular season on the road versus Boston University on Oct. 12. The Crusaders home-opener will be against Northeastern on Oct. 18. Holy Cross went 10-7-2 at home last season. The Crusaders are set to play five teams who advanced to the NCAA Tournament last year including defending champion Yale and runner-up Quinnipiac.

The Crusaders will take on three Hockey East teams and two ECAC teams in their non-conference schedule. They will play seven non-conference games this season including two home-and-home series against Northeastern (Oct. 18 and 19) and Quinnipiac (Oct. 25 and 26). The Crusaders will also play away at Boston University, 2013 NCAA Tournament participant Boston College (Nov. 29) and defending national champion Yale (Dec. 29).

Holy Cross will play five Atlantic Hockey teams three times (AIC, Army, Bentley, Connecticut and Sacred Heart), while the Crusaders will take on six teams twice (Air Force, 2013 Atlantic Hockey Tournament champion and NCAA Tournament participate Canisius, Mercyhurst, defending AHA regular season champion and 2013 NCAA Tournament participant Niagara, RIT and Robert Morris).

All 12 schools will compete in the Atlantic Hockey Tournament with the top four teams earning a first round bye. The first round will be on March 7-9, while the quarterfinals are on March 14-16. Both rounds are best two-out-of-three. The semifinals (March 21) and the finals (March 22) will be held in Rochester, N.Y. Holy Cross will host the 2014 NCAA Northeast Regional Tournament which will be held at the DCU Center in Worcester, Mass., on March 29-30, 2014.
