Three Crusaders Participate In NHL Prospect Development Camps
WORCESTER, Mass. – Earlier this month, two current Holy Cross men's hockey players and one 2013 graduate showcased their talents at NHL Prospect Development camps. 2013 graduate Rob Linsmayer (Winnetka, Ill.) participated in the Washington Capitals camp from July 8-13 at Kettler Capitals Iceplex in Arlington, Va. Linsmayer, who also played at the San Jose Sharks camp in 2012, played on the Capitals camp's Team Red and wore jersey number 97. Senior Adam Schmidt (Warrington, Pa.) attended the New York Rangers camp which ran from July 1- July 5 at the Madison Square Garden Training Center. Schmidt was one of 39 players invited to join the camp. Sophomore Castan Sommer (Shrewsbury, Mass.) also took part in a camp for the second straight year for the San Jose Sharks.
The camps, which occur annually, comprise of both on and off-ice workouts, that help prospects improve their game and allow NHL teams to evaluate their progress and talents. 2013 attendees included prospects who are under contract, recent draft picks who have not been signed yet, several undrafted and free agent amateur players and current college players.
