BOSTON, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's ice hockey team will play Bentley at Fenway Park on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013 as part of Citi Frozen Fenway 2014 as announced by Fenway Sports Management (FSM). The Atlantic Hockey contest is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start. Tickets will be available starting in November.
"We are very excited by the opportunity to have our men's ice hockey team play at Fenway Park," said Holy Cross Athletic Director Richard M. Regan, Jr. "This is such a unique opportunity to not only play a hockey game outdoors but to also to compete in such a historical and beloved venue. I think this will be a very special day for the Holy Cross community and this will be a great opportunity for our alumni to see a Holy Cross team play in such a great atmosphere."
The matchup between the Crusaders and the Falcons is the first scheduled game of Citi Frozen Fenway as the 17-day ice event is from Dec. 28-Jan. 13, and will include two of Mayor Thomas M. Menino's free Community Skate Days for residents of the City of Boston, seven public and private high school hockey games, and nine men's and women's college hockey games.
"It will be a fantastic opportunity for our student-athletes to compete against Bentley at Fenway Park," said Holy Cross head men's ice hockey coach Paul Pearl. "Holy Cross fans and alumni are in for a great night of outdoor hockey."
The Crusaders will prepare for the season when they host an exhibition contest against Simon Fraser on Oct. 5 at 4:00 p.m., while they will begin the regular season on the road versus Boston University on Oct. 12 at 7:00 p.m. The Crusaders home-opener will be against Northeastern on Oct. 18 at 7:00 p.m. Holy Cross returns 20 letterwinners from a 2012-2013 team that went 20-14-3 and placed third in Atlantic Hockey with a 15-9-3 record. This was the first time in program history that the Crusaders posted back-to-back 20-win seasons as they went 20-15-4 in 2011-2012.
