Jan. 2, 2006

WORCESTER, Mass. - Junior forward James Sixsmith (Alexandria, Va.) has been named the Holiday Inn Express Crusader of the Week, for competition from December 26-January 1. Sixsmith led the Holy Cross men's ice hockey team to a third place finish at last week's Ohio Hockey Classic in Columbus, Ohio, and was selected to the All-Tournament team.

Sixsmith scored two goals in Friday's 4-2 win over Rensselaer in the tournament third place game. His first goal gave the Crusaders a 1-0 lead just a minute into the game, while he added a shorthanded empty net goal to clinch the victory in the third period. Sixsmith has now scored five goals in three games against RPI in his career, including two last year (in the 8-4 lost on Feb. 5, 2005) and one earlier this season (in the 3-2 win on Nov. 25).

On the season, Sixsmith now ranks third on the team in scoring with four goals and nine assists for 13 points. Over the course of his Holy Cross career, he has totaled 23 goals and 55 assists for 78 points.

Holy Cross (10-4-1 overall, 7-2-1 Atlantic Hockey) returns to action on Friday, Jan. 6, when it travels to Sacred Heart for a 7:00 p.m. game.
