WORCESTER, Mass. - Senior forward James Sixsmith (Alexandria, Va.) has been named the Holiday Inn Express Crusader of the Week, for competition from January 8-14. Last week, Sixsmith totaled two goals and an assist, as the Holy Cross men's ice hockey team played to a pair of 2-2 overtime ties against Air Force.
In Friday night's game against the Falcons, Sixsmith scored a shorthanded goal 4:17 into the third period to cut the Air Force lead to 2-1. Less than three minutes later, he added an assist when junior forward Dale Reinhardt (Livingston, N.J.) scored to tie the game at 2-2. On Saturday night, Sixsmith netted another shorthanded goal, this one coming at the 11:52-mark of the second period to tie the score at 2-2.
In 23 games played this season, Sixsmith now leads the team in scoring with 12 goals and 24 assists for 36 points. He currently ranks second in the nation in assists, and third in total points.
Over the course of his Holy Cross career, Sixsmith has totaled 141 points on 43 goals and 98 assists.
The Crusaders (8-11-4 overall, 7-8-4 Atlantic Hockey) return to action on Tuesday, Jan. 16, when they travel to Dartmouth for a 7:00 p.m. game.
