WORCESTER, Mass. - Senior defenseman Jon Landry (Lexington, Mass.) has been named the Holiday Inn Express Crusader of the Week, for competition from October 30-November 5. Landry totaled four goals and two assists for six points last weekend, as the Holy Cross men's ice hockey team swept a pair of games from Canisius.
In Friday night's 5-4 victory over the Golden Griffins, Landry posted a goal and two assists to help lead the Crusaders to the win. His goal gave Holy Cross a 3-2 lead during the second period, while one of his assists came on the game-winning goal by senior forward Sean Nappo (Northville, Mich.) with less than two minutes remaining in the third period.
On Saturday night, Landry scored a hat trick as the Crusaders defeated Canisius 6-3. Two of his goals came in the final 11 minutes of the game, as Holy Cross rallied from a 3-2 deficit to claim the victory.
Landry has recorded at least one point in each of the last four games, and in six of Holy Cross' seven games overall this season. He now has five goals and five assists for 10 points on the year, while his 1.43 points per game by a defenseman are ranked second in the nation.
Over the course of her career as a Crusader, Landry has totaled 20 goals and 49 assists for 69 points.
The Crusaders (4-3 overall, 3-1 Atlantic Hockey) return to action on Friday, Nov. 10, when they travel to Sacred Heart for a 7:00 p.m. game.
