WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross athletic director Richard M. Regan, Jr., and head men's lacrosse coach Jim Morrissey have announced the Crusaders' 2013 schedule. Holy Cross is scheduled to play 15 regular season games, including six contests at Holy Cross Field and a game versus Navy at Citi Field. The Crusaders will play two teams that made it to the 2012 NCAA Tournament (Colgate and Lehigh).
Holy Cross will start the season with two straight home games versus St. John's (Feb. 16) and Hartford (Feb. 23). The Crusaders will then play six consecutive contests away from Worcester including games versus Harvard (Feb. 26), Sacred Heart (March 2), Rutgers (March 5) and the Patriot League opener with Colgate (March 9).
On March 17, the Crusaders will meet Navy at Citi Field, which is the home of the New York Mets. The game is a part of the inaugural Metropolitan Lacrosse Classic. Michigan is also playing Colgate at the event. The Crusaders' game versus the Midshipmen will be on ESPN3.
After playing at Vermont (March 19), the Crusaders will host 2012 Patriot League Tournament champion Lehigh (March 23). Following away games at Bucknell (March 30), Lafayette (April 6) and Bryant (April 9), the Crusaders will conclude the regular season with home contests versus Providence (April 13), Army (April 20) and Dartmouth (April 23).
The Patriot League Tournament will take place on April 26 and April 28, on the campus of the regular season champion. The top four teams in the final regular season standings will qualify for the tournament.
Last season the Crusaders went 5-10 overall (0-6 Patriot League). Holy Cross returns 27 letterwinners and five starters. Nineteen freshmen and one sophomore have joined the program.
