- The Holy Cross men's lacrosse team will kick off the season on Saturday, Feb. 16, when it hosts St. John's at noon. This will be the sixth straight year that the Crusaders have opened the season against the Red Storm as Holy Cross is 1-4 in those previous five contests.
Last season, Holy Cross lost to St. John's by a 17-7 score on Feb. 18 in Queens, N.Y., while in 2011, the Crusaders lost 16-7 to the Red Storm in Worcester. In 2010, the Crusaders lost to the Red Storm on the road by a 9-8 score, while in 2009 at the Hart Turf Field, the Crusaders lost by a score of 10-5 on Feb. 14. In 2008 Holy Cross defeated St. John's, 7-5, on Feb. 16 in Queens. Last season, St. John's went 8-7 (3-3 Big East) and lost to Syracuse in the Big East Tournament championship game.
The Holy Cross allotment of tickets for the 2013 Metropolitan Lacrosse Classic are on sale. Fans can order tickets in the Field Sideline area for $35.00 each by calling the Holy Cross Ticket Office at (508) 793-2573. The Metropolitan Lacrosse Classic will take place on Sunday, March 17, at Citi Field, the home of the New York Mets. Holy Cross will take on Navy in the first contest at noon, while Michigan will face Colgate in the second game at 3:00 p.m.
- Holy Cross returns 27 letterwinners and five starters from last season (5-10 overall, 0-6 Patriot League). Holy Cross also returns four of its top five goal scorers and has added 19 freshmen and two sophomores to the roster. The Crusaders will be led by senior captains Myles Gillespie (Rye, N.Y.), John Hannan (Manhasset, N.Y.), James Kennedy (Summit, N.J.) and Daniel Schmader (Radnor, Pa.).
