James Kennedy Named To The Tewaaraton Award Watch List

WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross senior men's lacrosse captain James Kennedy (Summit, N.J.) has been named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List for the second straight season. The award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the nation. Kennedy is the only Holy Cross men's lacrosse player to ever be named to the watch list.

A two-year captain, Kennedy has played in all 46 games with 42 starts. He has recorded 64 goals throughout his career, with a career-best 23 goals last season. He also has 40 career assists for 104 career points. Last season he earned the team's Offensive Player of the Year Award with a career-best 42 points. He also had a career-best 19 assists. Also last year, he was selected as a Division I Nike National Player of the Week, New England Player of the Week and Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week. Kennedy is a two-year member of the Holy Cross Leadership Academy and has been named to the Patriot Academic Honor Roll two times.

The 13th annual Tewaaraton Award winners will be selected and honored on May 30, 2013, at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C. The list will be narrowed to a leading group of 25 Tewaaraton Award nominees in late April, with the five finalists to be announced in mid-May. These finalists will be invited to the Tewaaraton Award Ceremony.

The Crusaders return to action on Saturday, Feb. 23, when they host Hartford at 3:00 p.m.
