Terry McKenna Named To Preseason All-Patriot League Team

WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross junior Terry McKenna (Summit, N.J.) has been named to the 2014 Men's Lacrosse Preseason All-Patriot League team. The Crusaders have also been picked to finish seventh in the 2014 Patriot League preseason poll as voted on by head coaches and sports information directors throughout the league.

McKenna, who earned 2013 second team All-New England accolades, was second on the team with 24 goals and third with 29 points last season. McKenna also posted five assists and 28 ground balls. For his career he has 30 goals and eight assists for 38 points. McKenna, who has been named a 2014 team captain, earned a spot on the 2013 Patriot League All-Academic team.

New Patriot League member and 2012 NCAA national champions Loyola (Md.), was picked to place first with 13 of 18 first-place votes and 123 points in total. Bucknell placed second in the poll with 109 total points and three first-place votes, while Lehigh, last year's Patriot League champions, came in at third with 108 total votes and received the remaining two first-place votes. Army (86 total points) was fourth, Colgate (73 total points) was fifth, Navy (56 total points) was sixth, Holy Cross (42 total points) was seventh, Lafayette (35 total points) was eighth and first-year varsity program Boston University finished ninth with 16 total votes. Army's John Glesener was named the league's Preseason Offensive Player of the Year and Loyola's Joe Fletcher earned Preseason Defensive Player of the Year honors.

The Crusaders will kick off the 2014 season at St. John's on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 1:00 p.m. Last year, the Crusaders posted their most wins since the 1988 season with a 7-8 record. The Crusaders' 131 goals scored were their most since netting 138 in 1994. Holy Cross went 2-4 in the Patriot League, marking the first time in program history that the Crusaders had won two Patriot League games. The Crusaders return 35 letterwinners and six starters in the upcoming season.
