Holy Cross Men's Rowing Performs Well At Snake Regatta

WORCESTER, Mass. -
The Holy Cross men's rowing team enjoyed a strong performance at
the Snake Regatta on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. on
Saturday. In the men's varsity eight race, the Crusaders
finished with three of their four boats in the top 10.

Chris Hayden (Garden City, N.Y.) and seniors
Gaven Ehrlich (Rochester, N.Y.), Garrett
Pearce (Haworth, N.J.) and co-captain Dan McGlinn
(Ambler, Pa.), junior Grant O'Connell (Cold Spring
Harbor, N.Y.), sophomores Peter Dwyer (Keene,
N.Y.), Sean Corwen (New Rochelle, N.Y.),
Colin Hayes (Chanhassen, Minn.) and senior
co-captain D.J. Estes (Falmouth, Mass.) finished
in second place with a time of 14:24.963, 17.572 seconds behind the
men's varsity eight from WPI. The second varsity eight of sophomore
coxswain Steve Burison (Worcester, Mass.), seniors
Eddie Pinero (Forestdale, Mass.), Thomas
O'Connor (Pelham, N.Y.) and Teddy Doyle (Belmont,
Mass.), junior Pete Haney (Oreland, Pa.)
and sophomores Trevor Zaleski (Haddonfield, N.J.),
Richard Sullivan (Quincy, Mass.), Dan Ryan
(Wilmette, Ill.) and Tom Gallant (Scotia,
N.Y.) crossed the finish line in seventh with a time of
15:29.172.
The Holy Cross freshman eight of Aaron Thomas,
Pat Rapuano (Penn Valley, Pa.), Matthew
Haraburda, Peter Prominski (Arlington,
Va.), Lucas Netchert, Michael
Walker, Kevin Moran (Maitland, Fla.),
Paul Gaffney (Newington, Conn.) and Nick
Forgione (Haverhill, Mass.) finished eighth in 15:30.185.
The third varsity eight of sophomore coxswain Joelle Castro
(San Carlos, Calif.), junior Matthew Achariam
(Elizabeth, N.J.), sophomores Patrick Kokoszka
(Durham, Conn.), Thad Logan (Pleasantville,
N.Y.), Steven Coletti (Quincy, Mass.),
Kevin Smith (Pelham, N.Y.) and freshmen
Nicholas Powers, Simon Toledano
(Cambridge, Mass.) and Robert Weitzel (Milford,
Conn.) took 13th with a time of 16:35.249.
In all, 17 boats raced in the men's 8+ event. The varsity eight
from Bates took third, Colby's varsity eight came in fourth and
WPI's second varsity eight took fifth.
The Crusaders return to action Saturday-Sunday, Oct. 17-18 in
Boston, Mass. at the Head of the Charles Regatta. Saturday's action
is scheduled to begin at 7:45 a.m., and the races on Sunday are set
to start at 8:00 a.m.
