Holy Cross Men's Rowing Battles The Best At The Head Of The Charles
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -
The Holy Cross men's rowing team competed against some of the
country's best competition at the Head of the Charles Regatta in
Cambridge, Mass. on Saturday-Sunday, Oct. 17-18.
The Crusaders featured three boats in competition during the
two-day event. In the Club Eight race on Saturday, the boat of
sophomore coxswain Steve Burison (Worcester,
Mass.), seniors Eddie Pinero (Forestdale,
Mass.), Thomas O'Connor (Pelham, N.Y.)
and Teddy Doyle (Belmont, Mass.),
junior Pete Haney (Oreland, Pa.) and
sophomores Trevor Zaleski (Haddonfield, N.J.),
Dan Ryan (Wilmette, Ill.), Tom Gallant
(Scotia, N.Y.) and Richard Sullivan (Quincy,
Mass.) finished 30th out of 46 boats with a time of
16:41.880.
In the Collegiate Eight event on Sunday, the boat of sophomore
coxswain Joelle Castro (San Carlos, Calif.) and
freshmen Pat Rapuano (Penn Valley, Pa.),
Nick Forgione (Haverhill, Mass.), Peter
Prominski (Arlington, Va.), Lucas
Netchert, Mike Walker, Kevin
Moran (Maitland, Fla.), Paul Gaffney (Newington,
Conn.) and Matthew Haraburda took 33rd
out of 38 boats with a time of 17:23.200. Also on Sunday in the
Men's Championship Eight race, the boat of senior coxswain
Chris Hayden (Garden City, N.Y.), senior
co-captains Dan McGlinn (Ambler, Pa.) and
D.J. Estes (Falmouth, Mass.), seniors
Gaven Ehrlich (Rochester, N.Y.) and
Garrett Pearce (Haworth, N.J.), junior
Grant O'Connell (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.) and
sophomores Peter Dwyer (Keene, N.Y.), Sean
Corwen (New Rochelle, N.Y.) and Colin Hayes
(Chanhassen, Minn.) finished in 29th place out of 37 boats
with a time of 16:08.069.
The Crusaders return to action Sunday, Oct. 25 when they travel to
Princeton, N.J. to participate in the Princeton Chase Regatta on
Lake Carnegie. The starting time for the event is scheduled for
10:00 a.m.
