2011-2012: Competed in six spring regattas...member of the freshman four that won a race against Georgetown (April 14)...rowed for the second freshman eight that won a race with Rutgers (April 22).

Before Holy Cross: Member of the varsity lacrosse team at Choate Rosemary Hall for coach Michael Velez…member of the varsity squash team for coach Tom Kiedel…was the Hartford Golf Club under-17 champion in 2007.

Personal: Son of Dr. Giles and Lynn Whalen…father played lacrosse at Harvard…mother was a member of the field hockey team at Wheaton College…has one brother (John) and two sisters (Ann and Sarah)…grandfather, Dr. Gerald Whalen, is a 1941 graduate of Holy Cross...has not yet declared a major.
