Men’s Rowing Competes At Day One Of IRA National Championship

GOLD RIVER, Calif. – The Holy Cross men's rowing team competed in the first day of the 111th Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) National Championship on Friday on Lake Natoma in Gold River, Calif.

The No. 20 nationally ranked varsity eight placed fifth in its opening heat out of six teams with a time of 6:05.391. No. 5 Northeastern won the heat with a time of 5:47.510. The Crusaders then placed third in the repachage out of four boats with a time of 6:12.458 as No. 10 Navy won with a time of 6:05.149. The varsity eight will now compete in semifinal No. 3 or No. 4 on Saturday, June 1 at 3:00 p.m. (Eastern Time) or 3:15 p.m.

The second varsity eight was fourth in its opening heat out of five boats with a time of 6:17.393 as Brown placed first with a time of 5:55.467. The Crusaders then placed fifth in the repachage out of five boats with a time of 6:21.111 as Cornell was first with a time of 6:08.930. The Crusaders will compete in the third-level final on Sunday, June 2 at 1:04 p.m.

The open four was fourth in its opening heat out of five boats with a time 7:11.736 as Brown placed first with a time of 6:49.855. The Crusaders then placed third in the repachage out of four boats with a time of 7:05.954 as Pennsylvania won with a time of 7:01.075. The Crusaders will now compete in the semifinals on Saturday at 11:45 a.m. or 12:00 p.m.
