Men’s Rowing Places Fourth At George Washington Invitational

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Holy Cross men's rowing team competed at the George Washington Invitational on the Potomac River as the Crusaders took on UC San Diego, George Washington and Navy. The varsity eight earned a victory versus No. 20 UC San Diego. The Crusaders finished fourth out of six teams with 27 points. George Washington won the Oliver T. Carr Bowl with 108 points.

On Friday, the Crusaders competed against UC San Diego. Holy Cross defeated UC San Diego's No. 20 nationally ranked varsity eight with a time of 6:01.70. UC San Diego posted a time of 6:15.68. The Crusaders' second varsity eight (6:21.70) also defeated UC San Diego's second varsity eight (6:33.45). UC San Diego won the third varsity eight race with a time of 6:12.30 as the Crusaders posted a time of 6:18.27.  

On Saturday morning, George Washington's No. 15 varsity eight boat won the Sullivan Cup with a time of 5:43.80, while the Crusaders posted a time of 5:46.19. George Washington's second varsity eight tallied a time of 5:56.50 defeating the Crusaders who posted a time of 6:00.90. GW (5:57.80) also defeated the Crusaders' third varsity eight (6:05.11).

The Crusaders then took on Navy on Saturday afternoon. Navy's No. 8 ranked varsity eight (6:00.10) defeated the Crusaders (6:11.60). Navy's second varsity eight (5:59.20) posted a win versus the Crusaders (6:27.70). The Crusaders (6:08.60) placed third in the third varsity eight competition as Navy won with a time of 5:57.90 and the Mids' freshman eight placed second with a time of 6:00.70.      

The Crusaders return to action when they will take on Georgetown and Hobart on Saturday, April 19 in Princeton, N.J.
