Men's Soccer Falls To Lafayette, 2-1

EASTON, Pa. – Chandler Fraser-Pauls and Alec Golini each scored a goal for the Leopards as the Holy Cross men's soccer team fell to Lafayette, 2-1, in Patriot League action on Saturday afternoon at Oaks Stadium. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 2-7-0 overall (1-1-0 PL), while the Leopards improve to 4-5-1 overall (1-1-0 PL). 

The Leopards took a 1-0 lead at 7:26 when Blake Fink sent a crossing pass to Fraser-Pauls who scored on a header. The Crusaders had a scoring opportunity when junior Tommy Uttaro (Staten Island, N.Y.) had a shot saved by Lafayette goalie Nathan McDonald at 19:15, but the Leopards netted their second goal of the contest at 20:00 when Golini found the back of the net on a one-timer off a crossing pass from Sean Peckham. Lafayette outshot Holy Cross by a 7-1 margin in the first half, while the Leopards took five shots on goal and the Crusaders had one.

Junior Josh Cintas (San Diego, Calif.) made it a one-goal game at 48:00 when he scored off a through pass by Uttaro. The goal was his team-best fourth of the season and the fifth of his career. The Crusaders were unable to take another shot on goal as the Leopards posted the 2-1 win.  

Freshman goalie Kevin Wright (McKinney, Texas) made six saves, while McDonald posted one. Lafayette outshot Holy Cross, 12-2, while the Leopards took nine shots on goal and the Crusaders posted two. The Leopards took six corner kicks and the Crusaders took two.

The Crusaders return to action when they travel to Hamilton, N.Y., to play at Patriot League opponent Colgate at Van Doren Field at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6.
