Men’s Soccer Announces 2013 Captains

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's soccer program has announced that seniors Monty Sanders (Temecula, Calif.) and Dane Kenny (Williston Park, N.Y.) will be the team captains for the 2013 season.

Sanders, who also served as a team captain in 2012, started in all 17 contests last season. He also earned first-team All-Patriot League honors for his on field performance. Sanders had a career-best two assists and netted three goals, for a career-best total of eight points. Since his freshman year, Sanders has played and started in 51 of 52 contests. He has a career total seven goals, two assists and 16 points. Sanders was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll in 2011 and 2012, and has been a member of the Holy Cross leadership Academy since 2011.

Kenny played in 14 games and started in 10 on defense for the Crusaders last season. He was part of a defense that shut out Army 1-0 (9/22). Kenny has played in 21 games and started in 17 since 2011, missing the entire 2010 season due to injury. As a defenseman, he has taken seven total shots and has contributed to three shutouts. Kenny has been a member of the Holy Cross Leadership Academy since 2011.

The Crusaders will open the 2013 season in West Hartford, Conn. with a game against Hartford on Friday, Aug. 30 at 7:00 p.m. The team returns 17 players and welcomes 10 newcomers.
