Patriot League Men’s Soccer Preseason Poll Announced

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's soccer team was selected to finish ninth in the 2013 Patriot League preseason poll as voted on by head coaches and sports information directors from around the league. Defending Patriot League regular season champion, American, was selected as the preseason favorite with 151 points, including nine first place votes. New Patriot League members Boston University (130 points, three first place votes) and Loyola (Md.) (121 points, four first place votes) followed in second and third, respectively. 2012 Patriot League Tournament champion Lafayette (115 points, three first place votes) was fourth, Colgate (98 points, one first place vote) was fifth, Bucknell (87 points) was sixth, Navy (67 points) was seventh, Lehigh (51 points) was eighth, Holy Cross (44 points) was ninth and Army (36 points) was 10th. The top six teams in the final regular season standings will qualify for the Patriot League Tournament.

Larry Ndjock of Loyola Maryland was named the Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. Cristobal Soto of American was selected the Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.

Holy Cross kicks off the 2013 season on Friday, Aug. 30 when the Crusaders travel to West Hartford, Conn., to take on Hartford at 7:00 p.m. at Al-Marzook Field at Alumni Stadium.
