WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's swimming and diving team lost a close dual meet to Fairfield on Saturday afternoon at the Hart Pool by a score of 165-132. Senior Brian Power (Southport, Conn.) and junior Jan Yburan (Livingston, N.J.) each earned a pair of first place finishes, while the 400 yard medley relay team and junior Nick Videtti (Woodcliff Lake, N.J.) also recorded first place finishes for the Crusaders.
The medley relay team consisted of Powers, Yburan, freshman Tyler Wright (Waterboro, Maine) and senior Brian Lyons (Greenwich, Conn.) and finished with a time of 3:39.92. Power finished the 100 yard and 200 yard breaststrokes with times of 1:00.49 and 2:13.63, respectively. Sophomore Jack Swain (West Hartford, Conn.) finished second in the 200 with a time of 2:19.24. Yburan touched the wall at 55.96 in the 100 yard backstroke and 2:03.37 in the 200 yard backstroke.
On the diving side, Videtti led the Crusaders with a first place in the one meter dive with a score of 227.40. He also finished third in the three meter dive with a score of 204.30.
The men's swimming and diving team will return to action on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 19-20, at the New England Catholic Invitational. Preliminary races are scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Friday and the meet will continue at 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
