CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's swimming and diving team traveled to Boston College on Friday and Saturday to compete in the New England Catholic Invitational for the second year in a row. The Crusaders were led by senior Brian Power (Southport, Conn.) and freshman Tyler Wright (Waterboro, Maine) who each recorded third place finishes in their respective events. Power touched the wall in 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:15.72 and Wright finished the 100 butterfly in 54.94.
Power also finished fifth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:01.41, while Wright swam to a fifth place finish in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:36.84. Junior Jan Yburan (Livingston, N.J.) added a fourth place finish in the 100 backstroke with a time of 56.32 and took home seventh and eighth place in the 100 freestyle and 50 freestyle, respectively.
The 400 freestyle relay team consisting of senior Brian Lyons (Greenwich, Conn.), sophomore Michael Noone (Stamford, Conn.), freshman David Mullany (Monroe, Conn.) and junior Tim Liddy (Garden City, N.Y.) finished in fourth place with a time of 3:29.75 while the 200 medley relay team made up of Yburan, Power, Wright and sophomore Andrew Olivieri (Newark, Del.) finished fifth in 1:42.29.
On the diving side, junior Nick Videtti (Woodcliff Lake, N.J.) led the Crusaders with a third place finish and score of 220.50 in the three meter dive and fifth place finish in the one meter dive with a total score of 213.55.
The men's swimming and diving team will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 27, for a dual meet at Springfield beginning at 1:00 p.m.
