Men's Swimming And Diving Takes Part In Terrier Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's swimming and diving team returned to the pool after three weeks without a competition at the Terrier Invitational this weekend, Nov. 16-18. The Crusaders were led by senior Brian Power (Southport, Conn.) who finished 11th in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:13.47.

Power also finished 13th in the 100 breaststroke, touching the wall at 1:00.83 and 16th in the 400 individual medley at 4:26.30. Junior Jan Yburan (Livingston, N.J.) also recorded three top-20 finishes in the 100 backstroke (13th – 54.07), 50 freestyle (16th – 21.91) and 200 backstroke (18th – 1:57.50).

The 400 medley relay team consisting of Yburan, Power, freshman Tyler Wright (Waterboro, Maine) and senior Brian Lyons (Greenwich, Conn.) finished eighth overall with a time of 3:36.26. The 200 freestyle relay team of sophomore Thomas Horigan (West Hartford, Conn.), Wright, senior John Vatalaro (Strongsville, Ohio) and Yburan finished ninth at 1:29.74.

The Crusaders will return to action on Friday-Saturday, Nov. 10-Dec. 1, at the Harold Anderson Invitational. Preliminary races are scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Friday and the meet will continue at 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
