ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Sophomore Tyler Wright (Waterboro, Maine) set a new school record in the 100-yard butterfly as the men's swimming and diving team competed in day three of the 2014 Patriot League Championship on Friday. Wright finished with a time of 51.80, four one-hundredths of a second faster than the previous school record set in 2003.
The 400-yard medley relay team also set a new school record. The team included senior Jan Yburan (Livingston, N.J.), freshman Andrew Higgins (New Canaan, Conn.), Wright and sophomore David Mullany (Monroe, Conn.) and finished in 10th place with a time of 3:30.34.
Other top individual finishers for the Crusaders included Yburan who led the Holy Cross field in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 52.72 and Higgins who was the top Crusader finisher in the 100-breaststroke with a time of 58.93. Mullany was the top HC finisher in the 200-yard freestyle (1:46.75) while senior Tim Liddy (Garden City, N.Y.) was the first Crusader to touch the wall in the 400-yard individual medley (4:22.06).
After three days of competition, Navy leads the team standings with 595.5 points.
The men's swimming and diving team will conclude the 2014 Patriot League Championship tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 22, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
