Russo Named To Swimming & Diving Academic All-Patriot League Team

WORCESTER, Mass.­ Holy Cross senior Anthony Russo (Stratford, Conn.) has been named to the men's swimming and diving Academic All-Patriot League team, as voted on by the conference's sports information directors. To be eligible for the Academic All-Patriot League team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport.

Russo swam in the 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard butterfly and 50-yard freestyle at the 2014 Patriot League Championship. He finished 29th in the 100 fly with a time of 57.95, 29th in the 200 fly with a career-fastest time of 2:11.43 and 52nd in the 50 free with a career-best time of 23.62. Russo holds a 3.63 cumulative grade-point average while majoring in Political Science. He also currently serves as Co-Director of Student Athletics for the Student Government Association (SGA).

Since its inception during the 2010-2011 season, Russo becomes the first member of the Holy Cross men's swimming and diving team to receive Academic All-Patriot League accolades.

The men's swimming and diving team set seven new school records as the 2013-2014 season came to a close at the Patriot League Championship.
