WORCESTER, Mass. - Freshman Ryan Sullivan (Medfield, Mass.) has been named the AT&T Crusader of the Week, for competition from September 13-19. Sullivan won all three of his singles matches and his only doubles match last week for the Holy Cross men's tennis team.
During Wednesday's 4-3 loss to Merrimack, Sullivan posted a 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory over Chris Barhardt at No. 4 singles, and teamed with senior Matt Wierzel (Garden City, N.Y.) for a 9-7 win over Rishi Rajpal and Max Eppley at No. 1 doubles. He then won the No. 3 singles flight at the Holy Cross Invitational on Saturday, as the team finished the tournament in second place. Sullivan defeated John Schrank of Springfield College 6-1, 6-0 in the semifinals, then downed Stephen Carella of Nichols 6-3, 6-2 in the championship match.
Overall this season, Sullivan stands 4-0 in singles play and 2-0 in doubles.
Holy Cross (0-2 overall) returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 21, when it plays host to Coast Guard at 3:30 p.m.
