Men's Tennis Competes In Conn. College Tournament
NEW LONDON, Conn. - Freshman Rich DeGregoris (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) won two flights for Holy Cross at the Connecticut College Tournament held on Saturday, September 22. This was the second team tournament for the Crusaders during their fall season.
DeGregoris, competeing in his first collegiate matches, captured the 6th flight singles championship with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Conn. College, and a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Roger Williams. He also teamed with junior Chris Brosnan (Garden City, N.J.) to claim the 2nd doubles flight as they defeated Roger Williams in the first match (8-3) and Conn. College in the finals (8-5).
Brosnan made it into the finals in the third flight singles as he won his first match over Roger Williams 6-1, 6-3, but lost in the finals to Conn. College 8-4.
Sophomore Nick Berrettini (Haverford, Pa.) played in the first singles flight and won his first match over Coast Guard on a default. He pushed Conn. College in the finals to a third tiebreaking set, but ultimately lost 6-2, 5-7, 10-7.
The Crusaders have completed their fall slate and will not compete again until the spring.
