Evan Gaudreau is entering his sixth season as head coach of Holy Cross in 2014-2015 and his sixth overall with the program. Gaudreau leads a program that puts academics first as shown by its scholastic laurels.

Four members of the 2013-2014 team earned a spot on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. In 2012-2013, Gaudreau guided the team to a strong fall showing, winning two flights in both the Stonehill Doubles Invitational and the Connecticut College Tournament. The team struggled during the spring slate, playing from behind during most matches. One of his players, Chris Brosnan, was a member of the Academic All-Patriot League for the second time in his career. The Crusaders also posted a perfect NCAA Academic Progress Rate of 1,000.

During the 2011-2012 season, Gaudreau had seven students place on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll as well as Brosnan’s first Academic All-Patriot League award. In the 2010-2011 campaign, six Holy Cross players were named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and Chris Das earned a spot on the inaugural Academic All-Patriot League team. During that season, Gaudreau recruited three players, who all gained spots in the starting lineup. Also in 2010-2011, the Crusaders posted a perfect NCAA Academic Progress Rate of 1,000, placing them in the 90th percentile in the nation.

After serving for one season as an assistant coach at Holy Cross, Gaudreau took over the reins of the men’s tennis program during the 2009-2010 season. During that year, Gaudreau implemented a new approach to recruiting. His keen ability to determine the strengths of each of his recruits by building rapport, thoroughly reviewing hours of video, and matching recruits’ talents to the needs of the team was pivotal and has been paramount to the recent growth in success of the men’s tennis program. Since taking over the reigns as head coach, Gaudreau has maintained 100% recruiting success with regards to chosen candidates completing their entire collegiate career with Holy Cross.

Gaudreau has also been a teaching professional since 2001 and has developed many top juniors in New England who have been recruited to Division I programs and have excelled at that level. As a player, Gaudreau was ranked No. 4 in New England in the Men’s Open in 2004.

A graduate of Central Connecticut in 2002, Gaudreau played No.1 and No.2 singles for the Blue Devils. He earned Mid-Conference Player of the Month during each year of competition and at one point held a nine-match winning streak.

Gaudreau trained at the Van Der Meer Tennis Academy in Hilton Head, S.C. There he was a hitting partner for several touring pros, most notably Amanda Coetzer and Grant Stafford.

Evan and his wife Mari have three daughters together – Jaidyn (7), Eliana (6) and Olivia (3). When he is not spending time with his family, Gaudreau enjoys leisure time on the golf course.
