Men’s Track & Field Competes At New Year’s Field Day

WORCESTER, Mass. – Sophomore Kyle Carr (Westerly R.I.) and sophomore Ben Dapaah-Afriyie (Attleboro, Mass.) led the Holy Cross men's track and field team on Tuesday, Jan. 3, at the Holy Cross New Year's Field Day held at the Holy Cross Field House with a pair of top 15 finishes. Carr led the Crusaders in the weight throw finishing 10th with a distance of 12.17 meters and also finished 13th in the shot put with a distance of 10.59 meters. Dapaah-Afriyie led the Crusaders in the shot put with a distance of 11.41 meters finishing in ninth while also throwing for a distance of 12.10 meters in the weight throw finishing in 12th.

Freshman Nolan Kiernan (Wakefield R.I.) and fellow classmate Luke Barrett (Medfield, Mass.) both had very good showings in the shot put and weight throw. Kiernan respectively threw for a distance of 10.94 meters in the shot put and 10.27 meters in the weight throw. Barrett was right there with him throwing for a distance of 10.73 meters in the shot put and 10.96 meters in the weight throw.

Holy Cross will compete next at the Rhode Island Sorlein Memorial Invitational and Yale Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 14.
