WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's track and field team competed in the Rhode Island Sorlien Memorial Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 14 at the Mackal Field House in Kingston, R.I. and the Yale Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 14 at the Coxe Cage in New Haven, Conn. Leading the Crusaders was senior Chandler Fenner (Virginia Beach, Va.) who finished in fourth place in the 60 with a time of 7.06 seconds and eighth place in the long jump with a distance of 6.60 meters.
In the throwing events, sophomore Kyle Carr (Westerly, R.I.) led the Crusaders in the weight throw finishing in ninth place with a distance of 11.82 meters and fellow classmate Ben Dapaah-Afriyie (Attleboro, Mass.) finished in 11th place with a distance of 11.55 meters in the shot put.
Other top Crusader finishes included a fourth place finish in the 800 by freshman Trevor Dutton (Burlington, Mass.) with a time of 2:00.31. Freshman Mike Galasso (Danvers, Mass.) finished in sixth place in the 400 with a time of 51.22 seconds. A pair of sophomores led all Holy Cross finishers in their respective events, Ross Davies (Salem, N.H.) in the 200 finishing in 12th place and Nick Petsky (Manorville, N.Y.) in the 1,000 finishing in fifth place.
In the Yale Invitational, senior Dan Altenau (Eastchester, N.Y.) represented Holy Cross as the only Crusader participant. Altenau ran the 3,000 with a time of 8:47.55 finishing in 14th place.
The Holy Cross men's track and field team continues action on Saturday, Jan. 21 when it travels to Durham, N.H. to compete against New Hampshire and Stonehill at 12 p.m.
