BOSTON, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's track and field team traveled to Boston on Saturday morning to participate in the Valentine Invitational at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center. Senior Alex Martin (Sutton, Mass.) finished 18th in the triple jump with a distance of 13.31 meters to lead the Crusaders in the field events and sophomore Ross Davies (Salem, N.H.) took the 30th spot in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.43 seconds in the track events.
Other top track finishers for the Crusaders included freshman Patrick Brekka (Hubbardston, Mass.) who finished 35th in the 500 meter dash with a time of 1:08.77 and sophomore Sam McGrath (Tyngsboro, Mass.), freshman Trevor Dutton (Burlington, Mass.) and sophomore Nick Athanasidy (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) finished 36th, 42nd and 47th in the 800 meter run, respectively. Sophomore Thomas St. Cyr (Temple, N.H.) took 37th in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.08 and freshman Mike Galasso (Danvers, Mass.) earned the 42nd spot in the 400 meter dash crossing the line at 49.67 seconds.
In the field events, freshman Dominic Gerardi (Simsbury, Conn.) and senior Michael Millard (Manhasset, N.Y.) finished tied for 22nd in the pole vault with a height of 3.80 meters and sophomore Ben Dapaah-Afriyie (Attleboro, Mass.), sophomore Kyle Carr (Westerly, R.I.) and freshman Sean Carey (Newburyport, Mass.) took 28th, 29th and 30th respectively in the weight throw with distances of 12.35, 12.34 and 12.24 meters.
The men's track and field team returns to action Feb. 17-19 at the Patriot League Indoor Championship at Bucknell in Lewisburg, Pa.
