BOSTON, Mass. – Four members of the Holy Cross men's track and field team competed in the IC4A Championship this weekend in Boston. The 4x800 meter relay team crossed the line in 11th place with a time of 7:37.64 and finished ahead of all other Patriot League schools. The team missed qualifying for the final heats by just six-tenths of a second.
The relay team was comprised of freshman Trevor Dutton (Burlington, Mass.), senior Stephen Madsen (New Providence, N.J.) and sophomores Sam McGrath (Tyngsboro, Mass.) and Nick Athanasidy (Cordlandt Manor, N.Y.). The time is one of the fastest ever recorded in the metric relay of 3200 meters at Holy Cross. The only other New England teams to finish ahead of the Crusaders in the event were Connecticut, Harvard and Rhode Island.
The Holy Cross men's track and field team has concluded the 2011-2012 indoor season. The outdoor season is set to begin March 24 at the Husky Spring Open.
