Men's Track & Field Completes Final Day Of New England Championship
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's track and field team finished out the final day of competition at the New England Outdoor Championship on Saturday at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Sophomore Sam McGrath (Tyngsboro, Mass.) took home the top finish for the Crusaders landing in seventh place in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:53.27.
The 4x400-meter relay team comprised of freshman Mike Galasso (Danvers, Mass.) sophomore Nick Petsky (Manorville, N.Y.), freshman Trevor Dutton (Burlington, Mass.) and McGrath finished 11th with a time of 3:21.12. Senior Alex Martin (Sutton, Mass.) also earned an 11th place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 13.49 meters. Senior Dan Altenau (Eastchester, N.Y.) rounded out the top performers for the Crusaders with a 16th place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and time of 9:39.30.
Rhode Island won championship with 169 points with Southern Connecticut State and American International tied for second tied with 60 points. The 2012 men's track and field season has come to an end.
