Orono, Maine – Sophomores Mike Galasso (Danvers, Mass.) and Sean Carey (Newburyport, Mass.) and freshman Tim Dunn (Fords, N.J.) recorded first place finishes as the Holy Cross men's indoor track and field team traveled to Maine on Saturday and fell to the Black Bears, 109-69. Galasso took first in the 500-meter run with a time of 1:06.22, Carey took the top spot in the weight throw with a team season-best distance of 14.90 meters and Dunn finished first in pole vault with a team season-best height of 4.30 meters.
The 4x440-yard relay team comprised of freshman Lucas Keefer (Yonkers, N.Y.), junior Sam McGrath (Tyngsboro, Mass.) and seniors Nick Petsky (Manorville, N.Y.) and Nick Poles (Quincy, Mass.) also added a first place finish for the Crusaders with a time of 3:29.13.
Other top finishers for the Crusaders included sophomore Trevor Dutton (Burlington, Mass.) who finished behind Galasso in second place in the 500 with a time of 1:07.15. Junior Tim Moczula (Edison, N.J.) landed second in the high jump with a new team season-best height of 1.91 meters. Freshman Francisco Tejidor (Coral Gables, Fla.) set a new team season-best time of 4:23.95 and finished in second place finish in the one mile run. Keefer took second in the 800-meter run (1:58.35) and Petsky crossed the finish line second in the 1,000-meter run (2:36.06). Freshman Dennis Muldoon (Weymouth, Mass.) also finished second in the 3,000-meter run with a new team season-best time of 8:54.27.
The men's indoor track and field team will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University at 10:30 a.m.
