Two Crusaders Compete In Day One Of Patriot League Indoor Championship

WEST POINT, N.Y. Holy Cross women's track and field sophomore Sarah Dahlstrom (Southborough, Mass.) and men's track and field freshman Rob Cacace (Yonkers, N.Y.) opened the 2013 Patriot League Indoor Championship on Friday afternoon, competing in the Pentathlon and Heptathlon, respectively.

Dahlstom finished the Pentathlon in third place out of nine competitors with a season-best score of 3,098 points, taking first in the shot put event with a throw of 10.47 meters. She also recorded a second place finish in the 800-meter run (2:30.67) and third place finish in the long jump (4.92 meters).

The Heptathlon athletes competed in four of seven events as Cacace sits in ninth place after one day of competition with 2,343 points. He set season-best marks in the long jump (5.80 meters) and high jump (1.71 meters). Cacace will compete in the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault and 1,000-meter run on day two of competition.

The men's and women's indoor track and field team will begin team competition tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 16, at 8:45 a.m.
