PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Select members of the men's track and field team traveled to the Brown Springtime Invitational on Sunday as the Crusaders recorded nine top-five finishes. Senior Nick Foster (Trumbull, Conn.) led the way in the field events taking third in the triple jump with a season-best distance of 11.57 meters and freshman Joe Murphy (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.) was the top Holy Cross finisher on the track, crossing the finish line in third place in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 16.18.49.
Other top runners for HC included freshman Chris Conley (Walpole, Mass.) who finished behind Murphy in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:49.73, junior Thomas St. Cyr (Temple, N.H.) who took fifth in the 110-meter hurdles with a career-best time of 15.75 seconds and freshman Dominic Abacherli (Boxborough, Mass.) who finished fifth in the 200-meter dash with a season-best time of 22.95 seconds.
In the field events, sophomore Sean Carey (Newburyport, Mass.) finished fourth in the hammer throw with a distance of 44.91 meters and freshman Tim Dunn (Fords, N.J.) also took fourth in the pole vault with a height of 4.30 meters. Junior Zach Maddigan (Middleboro, Mass.) finished behind Foster in the triple jump in fourth place with a career-best distance of 11.53 meters and sophomore Brian Wheeler (Malden, Mass.) took fifth in the javelin with a throw of 46.94 meters.
The Crusaders will return to action on Friday and Saturday, May 3-4, at the Patriot League Championship, hosted by Lehigh.
