Men's Track & Field Wraps Up New England Outdoor Championship

EASTON, Mass – The 4x800-meter relay team led the Holy Cross men's track and field team on the second and final day of competition at the 2013 New England Outdoor Championship on Saturday, hosted by Stonehill. The Crusaders finished the team competition in 28th place. Southern Connecticut State ran away with the team title, totaling 159 points. Stonehill finished second with 66 points.

The 4x800 team was made up of freshman Lucas Keefer (Yonkers, N.Y.), junior Nick Petsky (Manorville, N.Y.), sophomore Trevor Dutton (Burlington, Mass.) and junior Nick Athanasidy (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) and finished in third place with a time of 7:35.03, one of four teams to break the previous meet record time of 7:37.50.

Junior Sam McGrath (Tyngsboro, Mass.) was top the top individual finisher for the Crusaders on day two, taking 16th with a season-best time of 1:53.64 in the 800-meter run. The 4x100-meter relay team comprised of sophomore Vuong Tran (Worcester, Mass.), freshman Tim Dunn (Fords, N.J.) and sophomores Mike Techiera (Foxboro, Mass.) and Mike Galasso (Danvers, Mass.) finished in 15th place with a time of 43.00 seconds.  

On day one of competition yesterday, Dunn finished 12th in the pole vault with a height of 4.55 meters, tying his season-best mark. Galasso finished 16th in the 400-meter dash preliminaries with a time of 49.34, breaking his previous career-best time by .31 seconds, and Tran crossed the finish line fourth in his heat and 21st overall in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.25 seconds.
